We are looking for you for a dual study program in mechanical engineering in combination with an apprenticeship as an industrial mechanic (m/f/d) at our headquarters in Augsburg from 01.09.2024.

You did your a-Levels and want to go to university, but at the same time have a connection to practice? Are you interested in a comprehensive education in engineering and are you fascinated by large machines and systems? Then the dual study program in mechanical engineering is just what you're looking for, because in addition to your bachelor's degree, you'll also complete vocational training as an industrial mechanic (m/f/d). Theory and practice can't go hand in hand any better.

Before you tell us who you are with your application, let's tell you a little bit about us. Hosokawa Alpine is an internationally active special machine construction company. In our two business areas, mechanical process engineering and film extrusion, we are on a par with other world-class companies. With over 125 years of know-how and excellent expertise, we know how to develop the most efficient and best solutions. With our approximately 840 employees, we rely on resource-saving and sustainable technologies made in Germany and ensure the highest customer satisfaction. Global presence and successful growth combined with a forward-looking mindset, flat hierarchies, short decision-making paths, long-term partnerships and varied tasks in special mechanical engineering - that is Hosokawa Alpine.

What can you expect during your studies?

  • In the first year of your apprenticeship, you will learn the basics of industrial mechanics (m/f/d) - in particular metalworking and the manufacturing of components are on the curriculum.
  • From the 2nd year on, your studies at the university will begin parallel to your training. During the semester you will be at the university for your studies, and during the semester breaks you will gain practical experience at our company.
  • At the end of the 4th semester, you will take your final examination for the apprenticeship, followed by your practical semester, in-depth studies and your Bachelor's thesis.
  • Our dedicated trainers will help you with all your questions and challenges.
  • Your tasks include, for example:
    • Manufacturing components and assemblies and learning basic metalworking skills
    • Dealing with technical documents such as technical drawings
    • Maintaining technical systems and dealing with control technology
    • Dealing with topics such as mechanics, design and manufacturing processes
The dual study program lasts 4.5 years.

What you should bring:

  • You have completed your A-levels with good grades in technical subjects such as math, physics and chemistry.
  • Technical understanding and manual skills are important for success in training and studies.
  • You should have a good command of English. We operate in an international business environment and you may come across technical drawings and terms in English or you may have to deal with English-speaking customers.
  • You work carefully and responsibly on tasks that are assigned to you.
  • You are ambitious and want to constantly advance yourself and us.

What we offer you:

  • We offer you optimal learning conditions in our modern and well-equipped training center and with our dedicated and qualified instructors.
  • Your training and studies are important, but so is your free time. We have a 35-hour week, so there is enough time for your private life.
  • We are in the metal and electrical collective agreement and offer our dual students an attractive remuneration package.
  • We support you in your exam preparation with preparatory courses, old exams and intensive supervision.
  • Our working atmosphere is impressive; here, people help each other wherever they can.
  • A large team of trainees and dual students makes it easier for you to get started and creates plenty of opportunities for exchange.
  • Your work clothes are provided and washed for you.
  • Our on-site canteen serves seasonal and fresh meals.

And after the studies?

Our dual students are usually taken on for at least one year after completing their studies. In most cases, however, our students stay with us much longer and we are happy to accompany them through their career.
But the end of the study program is by no means the end of the line - further training is important to us, which is why we have created the Alpine Campus. There you will find qualification measures tailored to your current career level, so that you can always stay up to date.
