For the winter term 2021/22 we are looking for you as a candidate (m/f/d) for a thesis with the topic "Development of soft sensor models for the prediction of condition and quality values in grinding plants".

What you can expect:

  • You will work on this challenging topic in our R&D Department for Mechanical Process Engineering. In this context, you can finally apply and expand your theoretical knowledge from your studies in practice.
  • Your responsibilities will include literature research as well as evaluation on the state of the art of soft sensors for the process industry.
  • You deal with the exemplary creation of a soft sensor for a target variable from the process data of our plants.
  • Preparing a proposal for using the soft sensor for predictive applications or for optimizers is another challenge you will be tasked with.
  • Together in the team, you will get to know the processes of the company and gain insights into our machines and systems. In the process, you will get experience in working independently on challenging tasks and will have the opportunity to actively contribute yourself and your knowledge.

Your qualifications and skills:

  • For the challenging task in the area of R&D Department for Mechanical Process Engineering, you will complete a degree in technical mathematics, data science and analytics, information and data management or a related course of study.
  • You bring good knowledge in the area of analytics of big data. You are also familiar with the basics of machine learning and model building from big data.
  • A confident handling of MS-Office as well as good German and English skills are part of your strengths.
  • Teamwork, motivation and solution-oriented thinking are characterising you.
  • A ability to grasp things quickly, technical understanding, interest in the processes of mechanical process engineering as well as a independent way of working complete your profile.
